TURKEY HUNTING TIPS
1. Make sure to sight-in and pattern your shotgun.
2. Try different loads and shot sizes to determine which is best for your shotgun.
3. Stay in cover when walking to avoid skyline exposure.
4. Keep conversation to a minimum. A turkey can hear human voices from a great distance. Save the talk for camp.
5. Get in the woods early. The Gobblers will often start talking well before first light.
6. Hunt all day long. During the hend-up period, hit strutting zones around noon. Use aggressive hen calling.
7. Treat the fan with borax or diazinon to protect from insect damage. Let the fan and beard air cure for one to two weeks.
Depending on call or call manufacturer, call may need to be trimmed for best results.
If the call is too tight, use a flat screwdriver at keypoints to widen the clip for a better fit.
